MACHINERY TOOLS – A QUESTION OF OPERATOR SAFETY…

Categories: Blog

Using machines that out power humans always carries a risk of human injury or damage or, regrettably death. Safety considerations when using machinery tools of any description should be at the forefront of any manufacturer’s concerns…

Issues like the wearing of safety gloves, glasses with side shields, earplugs and boots should, at all times whilst machines are in operation and machinist’s aprons, be worn. Loose clothing, loose neckwear or exposed jewellery or long hair loose is also a hazard.

Operators should not work alone and hands and other body parts kept a safe distance away from moving machine parts, work pieces, and cutters.

Report defective machinery, equipment or hand tools to supervisors as soon as detected.

Check for effective and properly working machine guards and covers at every start-up and replace guards immediately after any repairs. Even after the power is off, do not leave the machine until it has stopped running and always see that work and cutting tools on any machine are clamped securely before starting to work. Operators should concentrate on the work and not talk unnecessarily to others while operating the machine. Remove waste using the correct tools and when the machine has stopped running…

This list is by no means exhaustive but is designed to set off in you a safety-orientated attitude and awareness, and state-of-mind.

With small precautions, many trouble-free years of Sinosai machine usage can be achieved.
